INJIJO

‘AURA’ - DELUXE EDITION.

Injijo’s AURA is a bold and immersive album written over 2023-2024, exploring the concept of authenticity through sound. Inspired by Walter Benjamin’s idea of the “aura”—the unique presence of an object in time and space—the album channels this philosophy into a genre-defying fusion of modern R&B and electronica, available now via Echo World Records.

At its core, AURA is about embracing imperfection. Tape hiss, glitches, and saturated textures are preserved as intentional details, turning anomalies into focal points. Each track feels handcrafted, like fragments of nostalgic moments, stitched into a larger narrative. The result is an album that feels both intimate and expansive, inviting listeners into a space that resonates with depth and honesty.

AURA is an invitation to experience music not just as sound but as a living, breathing artifact. It’s a powerful testament to the beauty of the raw and the real—perfect for those seeking an emotional connection and an unfiltered sonic experience. This is injijo at their most authentic, offering a work that lingers long after its final note.

INJIJO

injijo’s fascination with sound has always been about texture and tone. Growing up captivated by film soundtracks, sound effects, and video game audio, he channelled this obsession into early experiments with synthesisers as a teenager. While he started with piano, it was the character and depth of sound itself that truly sparked his imagination.

Raised on experimental pop and rock, he developed a taste for boundary-pushing sounds, and after years spent crafting lo-fi hip hop and ambient tracks, he’s now returning to those roots with a fresh focus.

His journey into music production began in the countryside, where the internet became his lifeline to creative discovery. At just 15, injijo achieved a huge career milestone, earning airtime on BBC Radio 1 and BBC 1Xtra for his downtempo bass music.

His latest work ‘AURA’ explores a style emerging in online spaces often referred to as “soulhop.” Drenched in sonic richness, these compositions blend R&B and gospel-inspired vocals and melodies with complex, energetic drum patterns, creating music that’s as vibrant as it is forward-thinking.

As the co-founder of Echo World Records and the Beat Social, injijo is shaping the future of underground music, fostering spaces for innovation and real-world collaboration. His work remains a testament to raw creativity and an unwavering dedication to authenticity, offering a sound that is both deeply personal and undeniably fresh.

‘‘I wanted to create something that felt alive, where the textures, the cracks, and even the flaws could carry their own emotions… a lot of it was driven by curiousty’’.
