At its core, Injijo's album "Meditations" was a project about the self, nature, and the struggle to be more conscious in a world full of distractions. What started as a personal journey of change from their city surroundings was unexpectedly reflected in a collection of tracks that became the 'Meditations' album.
Now for the first time, this album is available in physical format and features 4 exclusive tracks, created by Injijo in 2021. The first 20 copies sold will be the first people to hear these tracks.
The album is a snapshot of the life and interests of the artist. You can hear Injijo’s personal tastes and philosophy, not only in the mood and structure of the tracks, but with the speeches and film quotes that feature throughout.
A mixture of forgotten 70's records and surreal, esoteric speech snippets, there is something distinctly mystical about the sound of Meditations which leaves you feeling thoughtful and inspired. Whilst still delivering a recognizable lofi hip hop sound, Injijo has merged this with heavy bass, catchy percussion rhythms, and cascading noise textures that have become a signature sound of the UK beats scene over the last few years. Ultimately, the artist is expressing what we all want; a desire for a deeper understanding of the world around us, and a more careful consideration of our effect on it.
