winter tape, vol. 1 is a seasonal study in texture, tone, and time - created entirely on the SP404SX, with each drum hit, loop, and chop played by hand. Inspired by the layered simplicity of producers like Brenky, makesnosense builds a sonic world shaped by the slow streets, heavy skies, and fleeting quiet of winter.
This project is a personal reflection on a season that feels nostalgic and isolating in equal measure. From the first spark of inspiration with the track ‘lazy af.’, to collaborations with close friends Funiki, veh_mix, ayu, and lofikay, each moment adds to the story - a snapshot of winter through the eyes (and ears) of our tight-knit community.
The visual side is just as intentional: the cover art is an original oil painting, created in a single afternoon by Ismael Hamida-Caracci, makesnosense’s childhood best friend, who also directed the live session video accompanying the release.
This tape captures winter not as a theme, but as a feeling. Cold air, warm rooms and a comfort found in silence.
